We are pleased to announce that in the next couple of months we will be adding Vancouver Island local businesses to our online business directory. When we first launched coastlookup.com our intent was to solely serve the Sunshine Coast’s residents and visitors. However, due to numerous emails inquiries, we have decided to expand our content to cover Vancouver Island from Victoria all the way up to Port Hardy. If you’re a small business owner on Vancouver Island, please make sure you Contact Us to obtain your Free or Enhanced Listing.

A freak injury has sidelined Gibsons native Ryan Dempster:
CHICAGO — Just when the Chicago Cubs figured they were getting healthy, a freak accident landed right-hander Ryan Dempster on the disabled list with a fracture of his big right toe. He could be out for up to a month.
Dempster, a native of Gibsons, B.C., was hopping over the dugout railing to go on the field and celebrate Sunday’s victory over the Milwaukee Brewers when he caught his back leg on the railing and landed hard, injuring his toe. An X-ray taken yesterday revealed the non-displaced fracture.

A good article was recently written on the Peninsula Gateway:
“Have you ever been to the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia? Our friends, the O’Briens, who have traveled there on numerous occasions, asked us to join them and stay at a rental home in Halfmoon Bay.
We drove together up to the Canadian border, with a stop for lunch and coffee at a deli in Bellingham. It would be the first of many coffee stops where we each indulged in our particular coffee preferences, be it mochas, americanos, espressos or lattes.

We have recently added two new feature additions that come with an enhanced listing:
We think the best place to chat with our fellow Coastal parents is the playground and this is where the idea for Coastparents.ca was conceived! After many hours discussing the best place to buy children’s items, what activities were available, what family events were taking place or what kinds of support and services were out there we realized there was a need for a “one stop shop” for parents on the Coast to go to find information on everything child and family related taking place in our community.
After many “meetings” aka play dates and many lattes, we developed Coastparents.ca. Coast Parents provides online parenting information, news, resources and weblinks for the Sunshine Coast Parent! From pregnant moms and parents of newborn babies, to toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners we have a little something for everyone. We keep you up to date on all that is happening in your community, provide expert advice from local resources, information on cool new baby and kid products and provide a forum where parents can come together to discuss everything from breast feeding woes to the best play ground on the Coast.
Our goal is simple, to provide parents on the Sunshine Coast with up to date information on community events and activities and information on local support and services available for the children 0-5 and their families. Check out this fantastic resources www.coastparents.ca
